Individuals For Justice attended two government hearings and was saddened by both:

When I go to the county building on Hawthorne, it is somewhat of a journey by the #4 bus, but I liked going.

On May 29, I entered the building in a good mood and that lasted all about 5 minutes as a friend and disabled man told me that he wanted to play a video during communications and the head clerk refused his request. He wanted to play it last week and was told he would be allowed to play on the 29th of May. The clerk was close enough to hear our conversation and jumped in that he was not told that and you are not allowed to support your 3 minute public testimony with visual aids. That seemed weird to me so I asked the clerk to explain her reasoning and all hell broke loose.

The clerk looked at me and said they had a full calendar and would not allow our disabled friend to use the video equipment that all crony presenters are allowed access. I asked again for clarification and was told, “Joe, sit down or I will call security.” This was not the way I am normally spoken to at County and I said, “What?” I might have let it go, but the Chairperson of the Board, Marissa Madrigal made the announcement that our public communications would be down to two minutes because of the crowded calendar, now this made me decide to change my address to the whole question of the public ability to address government.

It was not a happy presentation and included the two incidents above. There was a third incident concerning where Lightning was sitting and he was told to move when others sat in those seats without any problems. People should feel welcome to offer public testimony but it would seem Marissa may have hung around the 5 sh--s over at city hall too long and some of the sh-t has gotten on her shoes.

The most important part of the meetings at both the city and county is the public testimony, we are given 3 minutes, 90 seconds to tell our story when cronies who these politicians call up, go on forever with their compliments of the politicians. It makes me want to vomit at times, good to have a “Barf Bag” with one during these displays. The rest of the meetings are formulated as the staff has already spent many hours working on an issue before we even get 90 seconds to give our opinion. This is not what our founding fathers had in mind when they created the thing called, THE CONSTITUTION. (Bill of Rights)

Individual rights
“The first Amendment defines American political community, based on individual integrity and voluntary association. Congress cannot interfere with an individual’s religion or speech. It cannot restrict a citizen’s communication with others to form community by worship, publishing, gathering together or petitioning the government.”
I could go on and on, but why bother; all politicians are sh--s, some more than others, but sh--s never the less. Back at city hall we have lots of fun poking at char-lie the hales and the other guy named* steve novick, also known as Brutus.

On Thursday there was a five hour presentation concerning the tax----oops sorry, the fee that our challenged mayor and his new buddy Brutus are going to force on the citizens of Portland. They are going to raise about 700 million over ten years, by passing a requirement that we all pay for the repair of the streets and roads. You will not get a vote on this because THEY will vote on it this coming Wednesday, it will be a second reading so no discussion on it and it will go into effect by a 1 vote margin, something like 3-2; a majority.

Not sure if Fish and Saltzman will even be there for the vote or they may want to be on record voting no. The game is rigged and Amanda will once again sell us out unless she has an Ebenezer Scrooge moment. This exercise is the perfect visual for what I have been talking about, the presentations were good and some excellent, fritz says she received hundreds of e-mails about this issue. She will vote yes not because it is a good thing to do, or her constituents want her to vote yes, but because she cut a deal about her parks; she needs money. This is a major reason I have given up trying to convince them of anything, it is a waste of time. Amanda is the best of the 5 but that is not saying very much, she also will sell you out in a “New York Minute.”

One of the more comical conversations that took place was after I had limped out of the sulfur filled chamber. It was between Nero, AKA cha-lie and the fish; fish won. Nero said, vote now and we can make changes later.

Even Nick Fish looked stunned by this announcement. This, friend, is the most corrupt group of gangsters I have ever had the bad luck to come up against. Not sure I will be there for the vote; I just can’t stand it anymore.

Julius Caesar was murdered by Brutus and thus set off events in Rome that was the beginning of the end of their republic. This is a sad event in our history. “Et Tu Brute!”

PS I do send copies of this to all the County Elected Officials and invite any of them to respond to the question of visual aids?-----City Hall we need more holy water!
*Will not cap due to disrespect/disgust

Who You Gonna Call?

Who You Gonna Call?

[Our Shame]

"We are beyond fascism"- The Lone Vet

There is a moment in "Ghostbusters" that you hear the song, "Who you gonna call?" There really is no one to call because who could really fight against something that does not exist? We find ourselves in the same environment with our government, it does not exist.

Years ago when we were fighting against illegal wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos we thought we had the courts with us, many times a federal judge would side with one of our military people who had chosen to file as a Conscientious Objector and would order the military to release him/or her. We had some politicians who were out front against the wars, people like Congressman Ron Dellums,

Robert Kennedy,

We were blessed with people like the Rev. Martin Luther King,

Catholic Workers, The Berrigan Brothers, nuns who went to prison, Buddhist Monks who burned themselves to death in front of the White House and Pentagon.

We had millions in the streets, we had an underground that helped get people to Canada, we had places that agreed with the simple concept that the Vietnam War was a lie and must be stopped. We had true hope, not something that a politician in the White House talked about. Today, there is no functional government left; there is mostly shills who will do the corporations bidding. Here is a dilemma for you, Sen. Feinstein has called Snowden a traitor but said nothing about Cheney being a traitor. Here are words from the 1%:

"I don't look at this as being a whistleblower. I think it's an act of treason," the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee told reporters.

The California lawmaker went on to say that Snowden had violated his oath to defend the Constitution.

"He violated the oath, he violated the law. It's treason."

Most of our politicians are in the hands of the corporations or they are lunatics. We do have some politicians who do not follow the corporate line, but they are so few and most of them are out to lunch-- nuts. People like Rep. Cantor, Rep. Cruz, Rep. Bachmann, Sen. Rand Paul, and Sen. Sessions.

There are a few, very few, who try to do the right thing, are sane, and not controlled by the corporations, maybe Sen. Sanders. I now believe that the corporate shills crossed political lines and it makes no difference if you are Sen. Wyden or Sen. Graham, you do what you are told. If you put your trust in any politician you are asking to be disappointed. They are mostly shills or nuts, take your choice. We, who are sad for the punishment that awaits people we consider heroes, Bradley Manning, Snowden, and others; will not rest until the people of the United States get off their asses and into the streets. We must have hundreds of thousands saying we are a peaceful nation and don't like what the corporations have given us, we will stand tall. The next revolution in the United States will not be about corrupt government, but corporate government vs. noble government. You are the noble government in waiting, will you look into the morning mirror and say "Yes!" count me in or just wait for another show about the Kardashians. It is your future!

Just received this from a man who is trying to change things, short video of why we old people are standing on a corner downtown. Thanks Jacob!

Elections Are Almost Here

We are now into the time where one can predict some races and our local mayor's race seems to be out of reach of Jefferson Smith and Nolan may want to start looking for a job. Looks like 80 will be defeated but the corporations will have to kick in some more money to the state of Oregon.

I am a little sad that it looks like Jefferson Smith will not be in City Hall, he would be much more in tune to the needs of everyday people than Hales. I think we will have our hands full trying to get Charlie to listen to us and reform the Portland Police Department. I did not vote for either of them, I wrote in Scott Fernandez and was proud of that vote. My hope is that Charlie will be a pleasant surprise, kind of like Sen. Merkley. I did not vote for Merkley in the democratic primary but will vote for him next time around. Sen. Merkley is much better than the "wyden." The polls are showing that Commissioner Fritz will be returned for another 4 years of service. I will not be happy about this but did not vote for Mary Nolan who I think would be worse. My hope is that Amanda will begin to understand that if she just votes with the boys she will, sooner or later, be on the outside of city hall. She and Novick have a chance to work together and do some good stuff, I don't have much confidence in that, but it could happen if you who disagreed with me about Fritz will stay on her case and get her to understand she represents our interests and not her own. We shall see.

All in all not much will change unless people begin to understand that elections are not the end of the journey but the beginning and we must keep the pressure on. I have always criticized protests that go to city hall for one vote and move on; we must do better. After a tough election, like the one Amanda has/is going through, this is the time to meet with her and let her know that some of her votes on the council were wrong and you will not be there next time around to pull her out of the mess she created. Celebrate your victory but get back to work soon. There is a place for people who stood with Amanda, I am just not one of them. So, her successes or failures will be on those who say they are progressives but saw in her something that I did not. I have been pulling back on my activism for the last month or so and will continue to save my energy for those things that really piss me off, like JTTF, fluoridation of our water, secret meetings with lobbyists, etc etc. I will no longer attend protests that ask permission to exercise 1st Amendment Rights or are scheduled on the weekends. If there is direct confrontation I will be there if I can, I hate parades. Well, see you in the streets, not because I like it, because in a republic you must keep the pressure on politicians. As one of my heroes would say, "enjoy your Protest."
