The Lone Vet on the Two Party Sysytem
Mood:  amorous
Now Playing: republicans & democrates
Topic: Justice
I never have voted for a republican, I believe unless you are a millionaire you should never vote for the “Goppie.”  I spent forty years of my life voting, working for the democrats.  I like to kid my friends by saying some people take longer to learn.  I was so angry at my democratic house member that I ran against him in the primary.  I know what Nader and others have said about the two parties being two faces of evil.  Obama brags about his accomplishments but also kills at will.  He has the final say when sending in a drone to kill his enemies that he and only he decides should die; and cocktail liberals will vote for him.

I left the democratic party back in 2008 just after the primary because I could not look in the mirror anymore.  I want this country to be a beacon of good and not a war loving group of jerks.  Secretary of Defense, (or as one of my close friends calls WAR) Leon Panetta has turned out to be as bad as that Rummy Guy under Cheney/Bush.  Secretary Clinton’s legacy is enshrined by her actions or lack of action when a hero of mine stood up during one of her lying speeches and turned his back to her, letting her know what she was saying was a lie.  She was talking about freedom of speech and watched as a 70+ year old man by the name of Ray McGovern was dragged out of the room and beaten.  She never missed a word in her speech.  She represents exactly where we are as a nation; corrupt.
http://www.opednews.com/articles/Ray-McGovern-Assaulted-Bl-by-Rob-Kall-110217-781.html

President Obama wants to have another four years in office and the cocktail liberals are lined up to give it to him.  You can hear people like Randy Rhodes, Ed Schultz and Carl Wolfson here in Portland tell you how it is most important that you vote against Romney and for Obama---it is mind boggling.  There are other people of a noble nature who are running.  I just heard that Roseanne Barr and Cindy Sheehan will be running on the Peace and Freedom Party.  I just love the idea of these two strong woman running.  The Justice Party has nominated another progressive by the name of Rocky Anderson who would make you proud to be an American again and not hang your head in shame.  The Greens have nominated Dr. Jill Stein to be their leader and run for the presidency.  You have many choices of good people but you want to vote for a man who has done more damage to our constitutional rights than Cheney/bush ever thought about.  If you vote for Obama you are selling out, if you vote for the Mitt man you may be just crazy and need some professional help.  Vote for honorable people, it will make you feel better.  We have very little time left, if we don’t change we will all perish, end of story.  The next few elections will tell the story of this nation that we all call home; will you finally step up or just go along and watch as we commit mass suicide?

Some say no to voting as a principle of protest, for me that is not worthy of consideration, you’ve got to fight hard to keep this republic, you cannot sit on the fence and wonder why we are so screwed up.  Get into the streets, vote, work for good people and we have them, they are not Mitt Romney nor Barack Obama.

We are in deep, deep shit today!

"We like to think of the drone war as something far away, fought in the deserts of Yemen or the mountains of Afghanistan. But we now know it's closer than we thought. There are 64 drone bases on American soil. That includes 12 locations housing Predator and Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles, which can be armed."

More on this:
http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/06/64-drone-bases-on-us-soil/

We will protest this on the Hawthorne Bridge at 1st and Madison on the west-side at 3:30 PM on Fridays until we pass some regulations against the use of drones. Obama joking about the use of drones is not funny to the 60 children who have been torn apart by our drone action since he took office.

We will join the Police Protest at 6:00 PM 187th and Stark.

Free The Horses - Portland City Council
Mood:  cool
Now Playing: Retire the Police Horses - Lone Vets Agenda City Hall
Topic: City Hall

On May 16, 2012

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2012/05/415749.shtml

This is what I will say before the City Council on Wednesday at about 0930 ~joe walsh

Good morning Mr. Mayor and members of the council: I am once again speaking for Individuals for Justice and the Oregon Progressive Party.

I come today to suggest a simple thing, the retirement of the Police Horses. It has come to our attention that you continue to support the police department efforts to use these wonderful animals in a way that places our citizens and the horses in danger. From videos that are available on the internet, (listed in my written submission) you can see for yourselves that soon there will be a tragedy that could have been stopped here today.

I have given you links to see these videos and take positive action to stop this madness from continuing to happen. We want the police horses, all of them, to be honored with retirement to green pastures and enjoy the rest of their lives.

We suggest this retirement to include working with children or veterans coming home from killing things in far away lands.

The cost to keep these animals working to control crowds or intimidate the "Houseless" is about $585,000 per year. The cost will eventually cause this council or the new members coming in next January to decide to stop this program, our concern is that if and when it does happen there will be little planning on what to do with these dedicated animals and we want lots of time to be spent in deciding where they will go.

Many cities are now in the process of discontinuing these programs and have to make fast decisions on selling the horses and don't care where they are going--to us that would be another tragedy.

This is what Mounted Patrol Unit has on its web site:
 http://www.portlandonline.com/police/index.cfm?a=250328&c=29791
1 of 2

These are actual street encounters using the horses as weapons:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR6Gos2phok
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m33tqqRuqnI
 link to www.katu.com

The Charter Commission started to work on the concept of not using animals to control crowds but was shut down before they could finish their good work:

"Should Portland Ban Cops From Using Horses and Pepper Spray to Bust Up Protests?
Both address the tactics police use to break up protests—methods that attained new notoriety amid the recent
Occupy Portland protests." (more)

Human beings should not use animals as weapons, that is a worthy goal, to continue this program will ensure that somebody gets hurt.

Individuals For Justice recommends a vote for the following:
Mood:  sharp
Now Playing: 2012 Real Candidates for office in Portland Oregon
Topic: City Hall

Real Candidates for office

Vote for people who will represent you on May 15 in Portland

She cries out for justice
She cries out for justice

Individuals For Justice recommends a vote for the following:

Cameron Whitten for Mayor, Community Activist. Individuals For Justice has often called for young and noble people to step up and Cameron is just that, we like the way he thinks and calls for "Unity."

Commissioner #1 Teressa Raiford, We like her position on gun control and she thinks about how to create jobs in Portland. Impressive during the debates she was invited to take part.

Commissioner #4 Mark White. We watched Mark's work on the Charter Commission and know he was concerned about the least among us. He wants to help and has the experiences to do just that-help! Only single candidate to receive the Oregon Progressive Party's nomination.

We looked at the following criteria:

1. Non-career politician, understands that they are representatives of the people and not a know-it-all elitist.

2. Understands that to be a leader one must listen.

3. Will work to re-establish the Charter Commission.

4. Are not bought by the Business Alliance.

5. Equitable treatment of all.

We, IFJ refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils. We want candidates that we can believe in and support. These are three noble people who will do their best.

Disclaimer:
All have not signed on to our criteria but have talked about most of the issues we are concerned with during our evaluation of the candidates.

Dream candidates must include: Dan Meek for Attorney-general. Or, better still, Secretary of State, next election cycle.

How about Joann Bowman Hardesty for Commissioner, next election cycle.

Things That Bug Me!

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2012/04/414948.shtml

Exclusion is almost never justified!

There is one thing that I must place on the top of my list. The exclusion of candidates from the debate schedule. I understand that local news will pick and choose which candidates should be in a debate, local news are entertainment groups who are only concerned with ratings, and making money. I also understand the democrats and republicans excluding people like Ralph Nader in their debates; don't like it, but it is understandable. We here in Portland are blessed this time around with lots of people stepping up to run for office, but they are ignored and that kind of ticks me off. We, who call ourselves progressives or liberals say we want young people to run; we want and need new ideas, but when noble people do step up we say, "who do you think you are?" We will not go out of our way to encourage them by inviting them to take part in the debates. We say things like, "They are not raising enough money to challenge the people picked by the powers that be; Oregonian, Willamette Weekly, City Club, democratic or republican parties, god." I am not talking about corporate sponsors, I am talking about League of Woman Voters, the Urban League, and others. They have selected to leave out most of the field of candidates for mayor. There are over 20+ people who have decided to run for the May Primary, how many did the elites invite to be on stage. 3, three! We will never hear what the majority of people running for office have to say, they are silenced by people we believe in; it has to stop.

The second thing that drives me a little crazy is that we vote for the same corrupt type of people over and over again. The incumbent rate in the US Senate who are returned to office is about 85% and in some election cycles as high as 95%. We have only one real independent in the senate and that would be Sen. Sanders, there is another but he is as corrupt as the rest of dems and repubs. I was on a local TV show with a man I respect and like, Dan Meek. Dan came up with a rule to vote by that I like; don't vote for the person with the most ads on TV. Simple, and I like it. You will be flooded by TV ads telling you how wonderful Brady and the boys are and would make great mayors; they have lots of money for ads, don't vote for them because they are bought and paid for by the very people who give them all that money. Do some research, read, talk to your friends, listen to what others are saying and then vote. Being a member of this republic has responsibilities and listening to advertisements is not one of them; they are lies.

I often think that the American public are idiots, it would be so nice to be proven wrong. Please prove me wrong and not continue to vote for the money people, there are wonderful people who run for office and are willing to represent your interests, they are not dems or repubs, they are just working people or students who want to help; that would be good!

Just saying.

Wednesday in front of the ninth Circuit Court in Portland Oregon

Joe Walsh from IFJ [Individuals for Justice] reports back on 3.7.12

Today was Wednesday, we were there to witness one of our leaders take his place on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, a man who will decide cases ranging from an inmate’s right to legal representation in our prison system to a whole range of other issues.

One day he may have to decide whether a person will get his freedom or stay in prison.  Maybe there is a contract issue that one party does not like the conclusion of a lower court and is appealing; kind of important stuff if you are paying the cost of appealing a decision that you just know is wrong.  This is what the 9th does day in day out, they make decisions that affect the very foundation of our judicial system.  This may be the last place one goes for Justice and in my opinion, the most important court because if you lose at this level, after some attempts to have the Appellate Court think again about the case, you can only go to the Supreme Court and they only take very important cases, about 100 per year.  So, what does it mean when you get a defective judge, a judge that has in the past sold his soul for a seat on the court;  it means a lot.

Most people walking by our small group do not know who this monster is, never heard of Judge J. bybee.  That is why we stand in the rain and cold, to tell them a story that is very hard to believe.  Our biggest problem is getting people to believe the saga of this man who came close to destroying our Department of Justice and turning it into a Department of Torture.  This man who said it is ok to beat children, to drive people insane, to make prisoners think they are going to die,  allow a president to think he and only he has the power to allow the CIA to make families believe their children will be beaten to death unless we get the correct answers.  All who played a part in this indefensible reign of terror must be brought to Justice, not for some political concept but because we must get our souls back as a nation.

We will annoy the court for two more days, Judge j. bybee will leave Portland on Friday and our protest will end, others will protest in their own way when he arrives in San Francisco, Nevada or maybe Seattle.  We are dedicated to bringing all the war criminals to some level of Justice and sitting on the Court of Appeals is not one of our options, sitting in prison is definitely on the top of the list.

Judge bybee is in town - Tuesday
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: Tuesday - at The Bug Judges Protests
Topic: ACTIONS !

Tuesday 3/6/12 at 11:30 until 1:30

Judge j. bybee came to Portland and we were there to meet him.

We, of noble intentions were there, we stood for an hour starting about 0800 and left after court started.  Malcolm flew his VFP flag with the stars and stripes and we told our story of the “Bug” Judge to be repeated during the time he is in Portland, March 5-9.  You all know of the water boarding, the way he got his name by saying it is ok and legal for the President to order torture but you must not call it torture.

This once great country can hurt and kill without punishment because we are so powerful.  All countries that have sought empire have been invincible for a short time, but justice is always close as the British found out.  The Germans were among the strongest of nations until people said enough.  America tried judges, lawyers, and politicians for war crimes after WW2 and someday bybee, yoo, cheney, bush and the rest will look over their shoulder and see a prosecutor with guts and they too will stand before the bar of justice and their fate will be sealed.

We will be there tomorrow at 1130-1:00 PM, stop by for a bit to join byee for lunch.

We did not see him today, he is hiding from us---fits with his personality of cowardice.  We will decided each day what time we will take up our watch the next, I will try to get word out to you each day.  This person of shame who calls himself j. bybee, we call “The Monster of the Desert.”  Come join us or just stop to say hello.  Many people stopped by to ask about this torture judge and when we told them who he is they could not believe that he is out and about, free, sitting on one of the best courts, but someday history will be written and he will read it in a dark place of shame.

.

Monday 3/5/12 at 0830 until 0930

This is the person who signed off on the torture memos and gave the cheney/bush administration the legal basis for torturing prisoners in our custody. He was given a seat on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, as a reward. He is a disgrace to the legal profession. Individuals For Justice will protest him coming to Portland to sit in judgment of others when he should stand trial for war crimes. His nickname is the "Bug Judge."

He got the nickname the "Bug Judge" from his position that it is OK to put a prisoner in a closed box and put live bugs in with him/her during questioning. He thinks it is legal to bang the prisoners heads against the wall. Torture by humiliation, you must have seen the naked prisoners piled high and our soldiers laughing at them--just fine with this monster. Just go google bybee-torture and learn what a real monster looks like.

We will protest his arrival at the 9th Circuit Court this coming in front of the old courthouse, 700 SW 6th Ave (across from Pioneer Square.) Will you join us in telling this War Criminal to get out of our city. He is scheduled to be here all week

come and tell the judge he is a mass murder
come and tell the judge he is a mass murder

Judge **j. bybee of the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit is coming to Portland, Oregon.

Judge ** bybee will be here to hear cases at the Pioneer Court House during the week of March 5th and ending Friday March 9th. This person, in my opinion, is a mass murderer and should be told to his face he is like a skunk, nice to look at but causes one to vomit. This is **bush's judge who wrote or approved the justification for the torture of prisoners in foreign lands including Iraq and other Middle East countries. He is a scoundrel of the first order, a man who belongs in prison, not sitting on one of my favorite courts. We must welcome him to our city with a protest to let him know this veteran and you despises everything he stands for, and does not want him here to smell up our city. Will you join us in front of the 9th Circuit to welcome him on Monday March 5 at 0800 and every day he is in Portland? Many, many soldiers were killed because of what he and professor **yoo justified in the treatment of prisoners who were in our custody. Have you heard of Abu Ghrib--he is the man that said it was ok to beat, torture prisoners with water-boarding, hanging them up with chains, putting humans in closed boxes and inserting bugs, mocking them with nudity, etc. He was appointed to the 9th Circuit as a reward from **bush for justifying the terrible treatment of Iraqi prisoners and anyone else.

Charges against this war criminal are:

The man who justified torture of prisoners.

Ninth Circuit Judge Jay "Bugs" Bybee continues to hear
immigration cases despite charges of incompetency
You may recall the judgeʼs nickname - this is the same legal
counselor who authorized placement of a prisoner in a closed
box with live insects as one of some dozen interrogation
methods employed by the Bush administration at CIA prison
camps that amounted to torture. But chilling as contents of his
2002 memos were, Bugsʼ role in crafting the U.S. torture
program has been largely ignored:
Bybee is generally the forgotten man in torture studies of the
Bush era. The best known of the legal architects of the torture
regime is John Yoo, who was a deputy to Bybee. For better or
worse, Yoo has been a vocal defender of the various torture
policies, and he remains outspoken on these issues. But
whatever happened to his boss? Today, Bybee is a judge of the
United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He was
confirmed by the Senate on March 13, 2003--some time before
any of the "torture memos" became public. He has never
answered questions about them, has never had to defend his
conduct, has never endured anywhere near the amount of
public scrutiny (and abuse) as Yoo. It is an understatement to
say that he has kept a low profile since becoming a judge. Itʼs a
lesson in the vagaries of politics, and timing, that Bybee could
slip through the cracks of this story so easily. - Jeffrey Toobin,
New Yorker magazine
Last year the New York Times called on Congress to impeach
Jay Bybee over his role in authorizing the "torture memos",
writing "these memos make it clear that Mr. Bybee is unfit for a
job that requires legal judgment and a respect for the
Constitution."
Jay Bybee, the former head of the Office of Legal Counsel,
justified and authorized clear acts of torture by the CIA during
the Bush Era. Bybee was confirmed as a federal judge to the
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in March 2003, well before his
now infamous torture memos came to light. A lifetime
appointment, he sits in a deciding position on the bench when
there is clear evidence that his judgment is tainted.
More recently, judge Bybeeʼs contributions to the legal
framework underpinning Arizonaʼs draconian immigration bill SB
1070 have come to light. Considering the disrepute those
interpretations have occasioned with Bybeeʼs legal peers, one
has to wonder why the hell he has not recused himself from the
cases he presides on in the courthouse in front of you today.
In a document, written in 2002 by the Justice Department's
Office of Legal Counsel, Bybee concluded that state police
officers have "inherent power" to arrest undocumented
immigrants for violating federal law. The author of the Arizona
law has cited this authority granted in the 2002 memo as a basis
for the legislation. While the bill has been condemned by
President Obama and received intense opposition from civil
rights groups, Bybeeʼs memo complicates challenge of the
hated Arizona immigration law.
ACLU's Cecillia Wang calls for the Obama Justice Department
to withdraw the 2002 memo, which she finds legally incorrect,
saying "The fact that this memo is lurking out there gives cover
and comfort to people in Arizona and other states who want to
pass these overbroad and extraordinary anti-immigration
measures." What really has to happen is to have the author of
these cruel and illegal opinions removed from the bench.

Thoreau may have also brooded over the reaction of Emerson, who criticized the imprisonment as pointless. According to some accounts, Emerson visited Thoreau in jail and asked, "Henry, what are you doing in there?" Thoreau replied, "Waldo, the question is what are you doing out there?"
