Political Tee Shirt Walk Around Town

4/21/14 Because it is going to rain today, think I will put my "Vote for Maxwell Sharon and Nicholas Ivan Caleb t-shirt and walk around the Town Center on the East Side for an hour and move over to Ross and other shopping centers on the West Side f...or an hour or so. I should be at the Town Center, or Lloyd Center at high noon to begin my walk about! Sometimes I have to much fun. You cannot walk around with a political sign in the malls but a t-shirt they can't run you out and you get your message across. "Want to take a ride?"

Reminder!     [Updated Reminder in April 2014]

Individuals For Justice will return to 8th and Burnside near the Elephant to share hot chocolate and stuff we pick up along our journey to keep as many warm as possible. We will be there about 2:00 PM on Friday February 28, 2014 to present warm clothes, hand warmers, hats, gloves, warm shirts, coats, and other things to go to noble people who will keep them company. We are a small group but insist that we have fun during our task to help others and make our lives enjoyable. See ya there, maybe we will have some hot/chocolate as we tell our stories of life and about the people we love.

Jose Serrica and Individuals for Justice are doing the following:
1. 8th and Burnside---each Friday at 2:00 PM
2. Contacting houseless and making sure they have what we have.
3. Suspended Coffee at a coffee shop where people on the street can get a hot coffee, we pay in advance.
4. Fight with the damn politicians to get them to move in a positive direction and stop telling us how wonderful they are.
5. You can help Jose by donating here:
6. https://www.wepay.com/donations/132866940

We will move over to city hall at 3:00-4:30 PM to join in the day of action, come join us if you can. Jose Serrica will lead us in a time to mourn the passing of Hayseed, our friend and brother.

Report from Individuals For Justice

11/23/14

60607_10151881735717296_1141207622_n.jpg

Weekly report of our actions and activities of Individuals For Justice during the week Nov. 17-23.

Once again let me work backwards and report on what we did starting with our weekly protest on the Hawthorne Bridge. Roberto arrived at my home and announced that it was windy and cold. We went anyway and he was very correct, our signs were blowing all over the place, even the ones on a rope were blowing straight up in a horizontal position so that none could read them. We had a special sign telling all that we supported our teachers; we wanted to add to the bigger protest that was taking place on the Burnside Bridge.

This coming Wednesday Oct 23 2013 I have 3 minutes scheduled before the City Council during Communications. Because, (2:00 PM) there is a hearing concerning the police and the IPR, I have decided to read some of the names of the people who were shot by the cops.

http://www.portlandonline.com/auditor/index.cfm?c=26997

I have a new t-shirt for the occasion, something about asking if there are fascists in the house and answer it on the back. We will attend the afternoon session, something I rarely do these days. The 2 o’clock session is much more important than the morning one, so if you have to make a choice, go to the 2 PM gathering.
We will be back to the County on Thursday and the Hawthorne Bridge on Friday, have a new poster for the bridge, something about the GOP going MAD. Ha!

Join us if you can or make some calls, or hold your own vigil/protest----keep fighting!

Keaton Otis was a young Black man murdered by the Portland police three years ago. The police admitted they stopped him for "looking like a gangster." His father, Fred Bryant, has held a monthly vigil every month on the 12 since his son's murder in his struggle for justice for three years, on the spot where Keaton's life was taken.

Please join that struggle this month and help to spread the word.

Tomorrow will be another day at the City Council meeting, 0930 Wednesday October 8th.

Our presence has an effect, the council does not like the idea of citizens monitoring their actions, makes them nervous, and I truly believe that nervous politicians are the best we can find.

Thursday is the Multnomah County Board meeting and you should attend, not for me but for you and your families. The board is made up of all women, kind of great watching a political body work without us men. Sometimes I think men should be banned from politics, say for 50 years. “I just kid you” maybe 60 would be better---ha! Their meeting is at 0930 also, (9:30 AM.)
Location: Grand and Hawthorne, ground floor.

HELP

2013-10-01_12-32_Jose Serrica.jpg?139536

We called for all who we know to help out Jose Serrica who has requested we support his effort to assist those who are on the streets with things they may need. He has been doing this for a while now and knows what he is doing. He asked for a $100.00 a month and Individuals For Justice will cover half and asked the people we know to help. That is what we do, we fight, we yell, we compliment, we assists others in their quest to do good.  https://www.facebook.com/jfserrica

Fight Against Camping Ban Continues

by "The Lone Vet"

..... We waited and waited and about 0900 the police approached and Jim announced he would not move voluntarily and I just said, "I'm with Jim." I had my USS Independence hat on and a jacket that says, Navy and Peace—Ha! The police did not want to arrest two old guys who were willing to give up some of their liberties so that others have a chance at what we once knew as "Democracy."

So, off we went to the big house, the justice center for processing and booking, my wife did not know I was going to push the issue, so she was not going to be happy. We were allowed to walk with the two police who were friendly and professional and very uncomfortable about arresting us. We were taken inside the entrance and told to wait on a bench and the police would get things started inside and be out in a few minutes. After about an hour we were given .... [more]

{quote} .... Outside of the den of thieves, another action was going on, called by Brian Willson to protest the treatment of prisoners at Gitmo. Brian asked us, Individuals For Justice, to join him in protesting the conditions, torture, and ill treatment of the remaining people at Guantanamo, Cuba. Roberto and I were there and I joined Brian on a symbolic fast.

My doctors said I could go for 24 hrs and that was my limit. I started at 10:00 PM Wednesday night and ended it 10:00 PM Thursday night and man, I was hungry. Before I left for the protest all the food in the house was whispering to me, “Joe don’t you just want to hold me, I am so lonely.” I made it through and Brian remains on a 300 calorie per day fast.

DAY 14

4/29/13/ - posted by Joe Walsh

We asked, we yelled, we cried, now it is time for pressure, each week,

as long as I am able I will sit in the City Council with my shirt that says:

THE

5   4

S----

On the back:

WORKING

ON

 3

bastille.jpg?1395366984509

I will wear a gag because our words mean nothing to this council.

This Wednesday, May 1, 2013 my gag will be made up of a dollar bill and a poster outside to denounce this outrageous act by the 4 s---s (Comm. Fritz not included.)

I will hold a  card with the day count on it, we are now on day 14 and each week add another 7 days

There are other things I will do, normally, I would use the pronoun we, but this is coming from me.  This to me is the worst of the worst, only one human sat in on that 4/17/2013 meeting, danny ran away, and fish----he just got to be defeated------STORM THE BASTILLE!

Here are our basic demands for the council, some are negotiable and others not so much.

Immediately apologize to Mr. Smith, hold a little ceremony, maybe a picture or two----we are suggesting a celebration.

Pay the jury award plus interests and any penalties

Mayor Hales make a statement that beating citizens, shooting constituents in the back, making people bend to your will because you have a gun and can call more

*CWCs, will no longer be tolerated.

Start an independent investigation of the City Attorney’s office to find out what he does with all those lawyers during the week.  Fire City Attorney.

Make an announcement when the Equity Bureau will be moved to City Hall

We are a non-violent group, Individuals For Justice, we do not tell people what or how to do a protest, we have no rules, we have no dogma, we have no monitors, we have no bylaws, we have no pay account.  There is only one rule that we agreed to when we were pushing Blumenauer to call for the impeachment of bush and his dick;  be proud of what you write or say. That’s it!!

We will protest the action by 3 (a majority) of the city council of Portland, Oregon appealing a case of Police Brutality against a young man whose only crime was to ask a question to a cop.

From the Oregonian: (I don’t like this paper, but they came close)

“Both sides agreed that the police wouldn’t explain why.  As officers tried to handcuff Smith, he pulled his arms into his chest.  Smith said he was immediately punched in the face.  The scuffle that ensued was his attempt to protect himself, he said”

The question that this young man asked the cop was what law forbids him from standing on the sidewalk---sound familiar?

“Officer Patrick Johnson fired his Taser at Smith, but the probes didn’t pierce his skin.  Officer Sean McFarland then used his Taser and hit his mark.  Police said Smith was defying orders to stay on the ground.”

“Johnson pepper-sprayed Smith twice and police punched him in the back before half a dozen officers piled on top of him.  Smith was handcuffed with his feet tied to his wrists and charged with criminal trespass, interfering with a police officer and resisting arrest.”

“Jurors awarded nearly $16,000 in legal fees for his criminal defense, medical bills and counseling.  They also awarded $290,000 for his pain and suffering.”

After the verdict, Juror Patty Smith said police were wrong to rough up and arrest Smith, and most of the verdict was an acknowledgement of his lasting psychological damages.

The 5 now 4 shi-s decided to appeal this case----WTF?

We spoke against this waste of our tax money, they will lose and pay additional penalties with your money, not theirs.  Maybe we should demand that if they vote for this they must pay the penalties out of their own pockets, not campaign funds but their money.  That would be good.

WED-0900 4/24/2013 OUTSIDE/INSIDE CITY HALL, “GOT MOUTH WILL TRAVEL.”

I will be there,  INJUSTICE TO ONE IS INJUSTICE TO ME! Will you join this lone vet who is pissed off at this continuation of brutality?  Come with us and yell, loud and tell the council if you continue to go against what is good and noble we will get you out.

STORM!

Report From the

                              The Columbia Gorge Protection Brigade

(neé North Portland Coal-Ition Brigade)

on distributing coal-fires at terminals in Boardman OR.

February 25, 2013

To: Organizations opposed to coal transit through the Columbia River Gorge

By: Barbara Ellis

BarbaraINDIVIDUAL.jpg?1395366984658

and Taizz Medalia

Two of us veterans of the North Portland Coal-Ition Brigade—did that  165-mile trip to Boardman to distribute 100 anti-coal-terminal fliers Sunday, Feb. 24. (SEE flier below the line; it's generic and can be used for any proposed coal terminal in the Pacific Northwest.) A lot of pre-trip research was done on Boardman itself in preparation for this combination posting/canvassing direct-action effort.

We arrived around noon accurately figuring that’s when the most people would be in the downtown area on both sides of I-84.

In posting fliers, we lunched at the hugely popular C & D burger eatery, posted the flier on its bulletin board, atop Nickel Ads stack, handed out a half-dozen, and left a pair in the uni-sex bathrooms. From there, it was posting it on the sides of 3 food-carts on Main street, distributing them to patrons of Boardman's busy laundromat, people outside the town’s outside the only supermarket and on its community billboard. Other spots were slipping fliers under the doors of the Senior Center and Head Start headquarters, and posting them on the door and on an inside bulletin board of a super-busy bodega.

We then went down to the fire station to hand a flier to one of the 7 paid firefighters (they have near ly 60 volunteers scattered from 11-50 miles away in Ione, Irrigon, Lexington, Hermiston, etc.). He and a colleague seemed totally unaware about information on the flier and admitted they had never had training in quenching a coal-fire. This well-known common hazard from stored coal evidently has never come up in public or private discussions/forums in Morrow County about Ambre’s proposed Boardman terminal. At least a half-dozen national companies are involved in quenching coal fires and training programs for firefighters.
