Free the Police Horses
12/31/11
When I was at the eviction of Occupy in Portland and the police horses were forced into the crowd, the first thought that went through me was the horses were going to hurt someone. The second thought was why the hell are the police using animals to hurt other humans. Now my thoughts are to take the horses away from the cops. Seems like a good project for us to take on. Want to "take a ride on the Justice side?" This is something all of us can give some time to, maybe we can see these beautiful horse retired to a farm, enjoying life. I know we are all busy but I got really pissed at the cops for making these animals move into the crowd and risk being hurt, when all the horses wanted to do is eat some hay. E-mail me and after some ground work, if enough of you feel bad for those horses as I did that night, let's work to "Free the Police Horses."

We will return to the Hawthorne Bridge Friday at 1530
(3:30 PM, 1st and Madison, WS.)
This is an ongoing protest to remind people we are still at war, still supporting Israel with more than 3 Billion bucks to cause havoc in the Middle East. Each Friday more and more people understand why we are there and that is always encouraging when we feel cold and tired, please do something every day for Justice and Peace.
I had the pleasure of asking a few questions and listening to Commissioner Amanda Fritz explain why she should get our vote come next year to remain on the council. Mary Nolan was also present at the East Side Democratic Club. Both politicians gave opening remarks and took face to face questions for over two hours; it was fascinating for this old activist. In my opinion Commissioner Fritz won.
Mary Nolan came across arrogant and never really answered my question about why she is running against another woman on the council, when she could be running for Mayor Adams' seat. I have a big problem with candidates who think they know more than the rest of us, Ms. Nolan is very bright but not as bright as the people of Portland. I said that if Comm. Fritz voted for rejoining the JTTF that would be a deal breaker for me and I would not vote for her reelection, I may have to rethink that problem when I cast my vote. We do have some time to make up our minds; I will never again vote for the lesser of two evils. There were two other surprises for Roberto and I.
We attended a meeting of the Charter Commission for the city and I was taken aback concerning their power. I did address them on two issues that cause me pain when dealing with our city. The first one is the terrible use of the police horses during the eviction of "Occupy Portland" from our parks. Roberto and I have often cringed about using animals to move crowds during demonstrations. Portland is often experiencing rain and that makes it very dangerous for our horses due to the sidewalks being so slippery. I ask that they consider retiring the horses. The second request, that our police be banned from using chemicals like teargas or pepper spray. They could effect change of both of these things by making changes to our charter. The city charter is like our constitution but on a local level, we shall see. I was the only constituent there from the city of Portland, I will let you know the next meeting and you should go if you are a citizen of Portland. There was also a great meeting of the Occupy PDX Labor Outreach group at the Lucky Lab Brew Pub, I love good beer and this group was fun to be around. It is very new but has great potential, besides the beer was very good. I got to give my speech about Occupy being co-opted by us old farts. I was glad that many established groups were also aware of not absorbing this wonderful movement and letting it be what it is.
There are lots of things to do, don't worry about making mistakes, you will. Remember if you need to make a choice, just ask yourself if this decision helps others and you will be ok--if the answer is, it helps only me--don't do it, move on.
Enjoy the holidays--I am not religious but love this time of the year!

Individuals For Justice will begin a protest outside the foundation's offices, 1600 SW 4th Ave. at high noon on Wednesdays until the resignation of the Co-Chairs of the Simon Benson Foundation and the President of PSU (Pretty Stupid University) MR. Wim Wiewel!
Will you join us?
We have our work cut out for us, PSU raised more money than last year and there were 1600+ rich fools who attended this noble but tainted event. We need your help!
This is an outstanding video of wonderful people who took the time to protest against PSU inviting a "War Criminal" who is responsible for the murder and/or torture of millions of innocent civilian Iraqis and Afghans during the bush Administration. Thanks to Joe-Anybody who once again has it on record that the local and national government of the United States refuses to honor an arrest warrant generated by the people of the United States.
This is happening all across the nation and we want all people of good will to know that we are ashamed of our past and present Presidents/government. We now demand the resignation of the person or persons who invited this war monger known by the name of Condoleezza Rice. This now concludes step one concerning the future arrest and trial of condi the mass murderer. Step two will now begin, Individuals For Justice will now petition Congress and the Justice Department to arrest all those who were involved in the genocide of the peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan. Please put this video out to all your lists and ask all groups to join us in this noble cause to finally hold those responsible and confiscate all their blood money including Portland State University
and/or the Simon Benson Foundation.

Condoleezza Rice
comes to our city:
This will be at PSU and the Convention Center on October19, 2011
If you want to know more about this defective human being and our national shame just google Condi Rice and war crimes. Will you join us in protesting her coming to Portland? Individuals For Justice and other groups protested her coming to Portland not long ago and she called in sick at the last moment. I am stunned that PSU would want to bring her here to be a key note speaker.

The incomparable Robert Parry puts Condi Rice clearly in the frame for war crimes after her extraordinary confessions during her trip to the UK last week -- confessions that have been entirely ignored by the US press. While there was a brief flurry over her casual remark about "thousands of tactical mistakes" in Iraq, no one but Parry caught her admission -- nay, her boast -- that the Bush Regime's policy in Iraq was an open, deliberate, carefully considered violation of the Nuremberg-based laws against aggressive war: principles articulated most forcefully by America's own representative to that international tribunal, and which were later incorporated into the UN Charter.

Reminder! Reminder! Reminder! September 2011
|
This Wednesday I will return to City Hall to let them know that we want a new council come November of 2012. Randy not running, Sam not running and Amanda is running against Mary Nolan. We told the City Council not to vote for the JTTF, they did. We told the City Council not to vote for the Sit-Lie (lie) ordinance, they did. We told them not to cave in on the covering of the reservoirs, they did. Two out of the three up for reelection are not running because they know they would lose, only Commissioner Fritz remains to defeat. We have a great opportunity to vote in 3 new people, a majority of the council and we should do that to send a message that if you go against your constituents, you are gone--finished--out of there--can you hear me yet Commissioners Salzman and Fish. We honored ourselves by protesting against these measures but got busy with other stuff, rejoin the fight----we are winning this one.We should ask all candidates if they will rescind these terrible ordinances and actions by this group of "Dropes!" City Hall0900 out front on 4thI be the old guy in the red shirt, laughing most of the time. August 5th We will return to the Hawthorne Bridge on the West-side near 1st and Madison
Join us every Friday at 1600, (4:00 PM).
This is a protest to remind people going home for the weekend that we are now involved in yet another war, the war on Libya. We are, along with NATO, dropping uranium laced bombs and missiles on a very small country and telling the world we are saving them from colonel Gaddafi’s revenge.
President Obama decided to go to war without any meaningful debate in the Congress of the United States; an impeachable offense.
Come and join us and take a ride on the Justice side. My sign this week will read
Welcome
Vets For Peace
I will be wearing a t-shirt that says:
Front---Justice For All
Back----It is Time.

1:00 Pm Reading on August 2 2011
Poartland Pioneer Courthouse Square
On August 2, 1989 on the floor of the U.S. Senate, Oregon Senator Mark Hatfield delivered a biting condemnation of America’s willingness to waste billions on war.
“Is there no ethical dimension to our abuse of natural and human resources, to our waste of scientific genius, to the bankrupting of the Federal Treasury to pay for weapons of mass destruction?”
On August 2, 2011, at 1pm on Pioneer Courthouse Square in the “Small Amphitheater Echo Chamber," in the NW quadrant of the square, just below Starbucks and the chess tables, Roscoe Koppel will host a reading by Martha Gies, Johnny Stallings, David Milholland and others, of Senator Hatfield’s August 2, 1989 Senate speech “Peace Through Strength is a Fallacy.”
As America is convulsed in the ‘debt debate’ it is an appropriate time to revisit the words of Oregon’s esteemed Senator.
"Today we are vulnerable. The national defense of this Nation, has left us vulnerable, but not because we lack an arsenal. The vulnerability of this Nation today is that we rank at the bottom of the list in math and science, and that at least 20 million Americans cannot read or write. The vulnerability of our Nation is the deterioration and erosion of our infrastructure, our highways, bridges, airports, our ports. Our vulnerability today is a nonproductive economy, a non-competitive economy. Our vulnerability is the people who are without homes, nutrition, education, health care.”
Senator Mark Hatfield -August 2, 1989
The event will last about 25 minutes.
